Loki is a sensitive 3 year old Chihuahua cross who is looking looking for a quiet, understanding home where he can truly flourish. His ideal family will have no other pets (although he may have to potential to live alongside caged furries that are securely separated). A calm environment with patient adopters experienced in dog training - or those eager to learn, would suit Loki best. His new owners will need to commit to building a strong bond with him through multiple visits before taking him home, as he thrives on familiarity and trust. He could live in a family with children of 16 or older.
Loki is worried being out and about as he is not used to going on walks but he is curious enough to sniff out new surroundings although he tends to walk right by your leg as feels safer. Loki’s new family must be comfortable with his vocal nature, as he can howl, especially when he is feeling unsure. If you are happy to share your home with a chatty companion and can work with him using positive reinforcement, you might be just who Loki needs. A home where someone is around most of the time and where he can be kept safely on a lead when out (and muzzled for vet visits or grooming) will be essential for his well-being.

Chihuahua Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Chihuahua.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
